POLITICAL CULTURE AND POLITICAL SOCIALIZATION

This course centers on the cultural aspects of politics. Traditional approaches to political culture and political socialization, are investigated, as well as the various critical, even deconstructive analyses that revise them. The two notions are studied in a dynamic way, while attention is paid to specific, important socialization periods, in view of the investigation of the generational effect. With reference to data from recent research projects on the Greek political culture, as well as comparative data from the ESS, we target at developing an inquiry on the issue of agency and structure in regards to the process of political socialization and its role in the reproduction and change of a political culture.
