Embassy of Sweden in Athens highlights young Greeks with great moral courage in honour of Raoul Wallenberg
The Young Courage Award is an international prize for moral courage, in honour of the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg (1912 - ?), as an annual non-political recognition. The aim is to highlight young people who with small resources have made a great difference and shown evidence of moral courage and commitment.
Raoul Wallenberg was a young man of outstanding individual courage and decisiveness. By the end of the Second World War, the young diplomat at great risk to his own life saved 100 000 Jews in Hungary from perishing in the Holocaust. He was arrested by Soviet soldiers in 1944. His ultimate fate remains unknown but his memory and life's work lives on. Read more about Raoul Wallenberg here.
The Young Courage Award is a collaboration between Raoul Wallenberg Academy, Swedish Institute and Embassy of Sweden. Take the opportunity to nominate a young person that acts in the spirit of Raoul Wallenberg.
