Dimitris Katsikas is Associate Professor of International and European Political Economy and Director of the Research Center for Economic Policy, Governance and Development (EKOPDA) at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He studied Business Administration at the Athens University of Economics and Business and continued his postgraduate studies in finance and international political economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He received his PhD from the LSE in the field of international political economy. His research focuses on international and European political economy, with an emphasis on the governance aspects of international monetary and financial affairs. In recent years, the Greek and European crises became major research interests. He has participated as researcher and coordinator in several Greek and European research programmes related to the crises. He has presented his research in international and Greek academic journals, as well as in international conferences, while he has authored and edited nine books, several of which at leading international publishing houses (Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, Springer). He has participated as a researcher, coordinator and principal investigator in several Greek and EU research projects. He has taught as Visiting Professor at the Greek National School of Public Administration and the Diplomatic Academy of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He played a leading role in the creation of the Crisis Observatory at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and went on to be its Director from 2013 to 2019. From January 2020 to September 2021, he was Head of the new Observatory of the Greek and European Economy and at the same time a Scholar of the "Stavros Costopoulos" Chair at ELIAMEP. He remains a Senior Fellow of the Foundation. In the spring of 2022, he was a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory at LSE. Since 2023 he has been the Editorial Director of the scientific journal: Regional Integration: Politics, Economics and Governance. He is a founding member, partner and President of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Scientific Society for International and European Political Economy (EDEPO).
