GLOBAL GOVERNANCE AND SECURITY

The new Postgraduate Studies Programme of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, titled "Global Governance and Security" is scheduled to commence in October 2024, following the completion of the certification process by the competent authority of the Ministry of Education (NQF). The new programme is a continuation of the current programme titled "International and European Governance and Policy", which has been operating for the past twenty-five years and is set to conclude its operation in December 2024.

The aim of the programme is to offer specialized knowledge and in-depth understanding in the field of International and European Studies as well as Security Studies, in light of developments in today’s globalized environment. The added value of the programme lies in its interdisciplinary approach and the opportunity for students to select courses from various disciplines, such as International Relations, Security Studies, International Organizations, European Integration, International and European Law and Policies, and International and European Political Economy.

Moreover, the programme aims at providing participants with excellent training for further academic and professional careers, including, among others, staffing international and European organizations, Greek public services, access to the academic field, and employment in the private sector in Greece and abroad.

The programme awards a Master of Science (MSc) degree in "Global Governance and Security", consisting of ninety (90) credit units (ECTS), with the following specializations:

  1. International and European Governance
  2. International Security

The duration of studies in the programme is set at three (3) academic semesters for those participating in the full-time programme and five (5) academic semesters for the participants in the part-time programme. Within the aforementioned periods of time participants should also complete and submit their Master’s thesis.
