Curriculum Vitae

Professor of Political Science and European Public Policy at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds an honors degree from the Department of Political Science and a postgraduate pre-doctoral degree from the Institute of Regional Development of Panteion University, Athens, Greece. With a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece (first scholar) he continued his studies in Great Britain (London School of Economics & Political Science-LSE), where he obtained a Master's Degree (M.Sc-Econ.) (1994) in European Studies from the European Institute, and a PhD (1999) from the Department of Government of the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE). His PhD thesis was nominated by the Government Department of the LSE for the British Political Studies Association (BPSA) Annual [Walter Bagehot] Award of the academic year 1998-99. He has been a Professor at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece; Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre of the European University Institute (EUI) (2022); Visiting Scholar at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES), Harvard University (2012); Stanley J. Seeger, Visiting Research Fellow, Princeton University's Program in Hellenic Studies (Dec. 2008-Feb. 2009); and research fellow at the European Institute (2001-04) and the Hellenic Observatory (2004-05) of the London School of Economics & Political Science. His research interests include European public policy, with emphasis on developmental and environmental policies, institutions, institutional change and social capital, as well as, more recently, the comparative study of varieties of capitalism, quality of government, and policy conditionality in Greece and Southern Europe.
