ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCE

The subject aims at introducing the undergraduate students to Administrative Science with special emphasis to Public Administration and its relation with other political and social institutions in modern democracy.

After a general introduction to the study of the administrative phenomenon in modern history, the course will proceed with a closer look at the particular concepts and methods of Administrative Science in the analysis and the evaluation of concrete administrative institutions in the executive branch of the State. The changing role of public administration in modern society will be examined with regard to the impact of politics and law as well as economics in its performance in the context of the national state and the European Union, in which it partakes.

An indicative bibliography will be made available to the students, who will be submitted to a final written examination.
