SOCIAL POLICY

This is a multidisciplinary introductory course in social policy issues. The course focuses on the evolution of the welfare state in EU and in Greece over time, and discusses the main aspects of the European Social Model, as well as the relevant typologies. Furthermore, quantitative and qualitative indicators are applied to outline the European Social Portrait with emphasis on living conditions, quality of life, social and economic inequality, unemployment, population aging, poverty and social exclusion. Finally, policy issues are examined, as the recent reforms of sectors concerning employment, social security, education and health.
