COMPARATIVE POLITICS

This is an introductory course in comparative politics. The course starts with an historical presentation of the development of the field and then continues with the discussion of the major theoretical and methodological approaches in comparative politics. Special emphasis is given to the uses and advantages of the comparative method in political analysis. Finally, major issues as democratization, the nation state, political culture and political parties are discussed with special reference to specific studies.
